- Dr. Eric Lippman,
Physiatrist, Rehabilitation Director
- Dr. Eric Lippman MD, graduate of SUNY Downstate School of Medicine, knew from the start of his medical training that Rehab Medicine was his desired specialty. Dr. Lippman fulfilled a residency program at NYU Hospital’s Rusk Institute of Rehab Medicine. He then began his career at NYU’s Hospital for Joint Disease and is currently a clinical instructor at the NYU School of Medicine. Amongst his broad scope of knowledge in Rehab medicine, Dr. Lippman has made Prosthetic rehabilitation a sub-specialty of his. Working closely in a team setting with the prosthetists at A.O. Prosthetic Rehab Center has proven to be an essential factor for a more efficient and faster rehabilitation for his amputee patients. The rehab team works towards a common goal with all members knowledgable and on board. Utilizing Dr. Lippman’s knowledge of rehab medicine in our Prosthetic Rehab Center gives our patients a perspective not offered by other Prosthetic facilities.
- Susan Karakawa,
- Susan Karakawa’s contribution to the A.O.Prosthetic Rehab Center is her years of experience in physical therapy focused on prosthetic patients. Susan earned her Masters of Physical Therapy degree from MCP Hahnemann University, affiliated with the Drexel University College of Medicine in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 2002 She has been involved with the amputee Program at Grandell Rehabilitation Center since its inception. ,As the senior PT there, she acquired expertise in understanding amputee gait patterns and in developing methods to improve them Susan’s experience enables her help patients set realistic goals as they move towards increasing mobility and independence. The staff at Allied values her strengths as a member of our team working towards optimal therapeutic results for every patient.
